OUT NOW: A page-turning literary adventure featuring the women who inspired Jane Austen.
OUT NOW: A laugh-out-loud, brilliant, and passionately political work of autofiction.
Camden on Canvas will look a little different this year: instead of a live auction ending a weekend of plein air painting, we’re trying out a silent auction format. The event name is Art in the Stacks and the bidding will take place online from July 20th – August 3rd while the artwork is displayed in the library; there will be a reception to celebrate our library and the arts on Sunday, August 3rd.
The pool of about 30 well-known local artists will encompass more styles than just plein air paintings, and we’re showcasing smaller pieces of art (great for those with less wall space!), and hoping to capture folks (like Camden visitors!) wherever they are, either in town or from afar. Learn more here!
Camden Public Library welcomes Midcoast Maine Book Arts for their exhibition Come Summer, a display of artist books which harness structure, design, and materials to evoke the language, color, and textures of Maine’s natural landscapes. The exhibition will be on display in the Picker Room of the Camden Public Library during open hours.
An Opening Reception will be held on Sunday, July 6 from 2-4 pm and is open to all.
The public is also invited to sign up for a special bookmaking basics workshop with the artists on Tuesday, July 15, at 6:00 PM in the Picker Room. Email jsagaser@librarycamden.org to sign up!
*The Picker Room hosts meetings and library events and is not always open for viewing. Please call ahead or check our website calendar to see what’s happening daily.
