Libraries are not just repositories for books. They are vital spaces for dialogue, learning, resources, services, and community connection. The proposed elimination of federal funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) threatens these crucial library services:

– Interlibrary loan connecting over 260 libraries statewide, giving you access to more than 10 million items
– Gigabit internet to the libraries in Belfast, Camden, Rockland, and Rockport
– E-books and audiobooks through CloudLibrary
– Ancestry.com Library access
– Free books-by-mail service for blind or visually impaired patrons
– Access to online databases through Digital Maine Library
– And much more

Reading Room Closed to Normal Use for Events on May 13 and 16

The Reading Room will be closed to normal use on Thursday, May 13 from 4:30 p.m. for our event “A Feast of Poetry and Song.”  The event starts at 6:00 p.m. This event is free and all are welcome to attend!

The Reading Room will also be closed to normal use on Friday, May 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a non-library event as a part of the Camden Festival of Poetry, with associated set-up and clean-up time.
