Penobscot Bay Ringers to present Spring Ring benefit concert on May 19
Camden, Maine –Penobscot Bay Ringers, Midcoast Maine’s community handbell choir, will present a Spring Ring concert to benefit the Camden Public Library on Saturday, May 19 at 2:00 pm in the library’s reading room, located at 55 Main Street, Camden.
The concert will feature a variety of familiar hymns and popular tunes, as well as some pieces composed specifically for handbells. The group will be accompanied on several pieces by cellist, Joan Welsh, of Rockport. Debra Hall, of Rockport, will also play several handbell solo pieces, accompanied by Susan Jones, of Union, on piano. The concert is open to the public and suggested donations of $10 per person
will be collected to benefit the Camden Public Library.
“Penobscot Bay Ringers is honored to support the fundraising efforts of the Camden Public Library,” said Amy Rollins, Artistic Director for Penobscot Bay Ringers. “Our group has staged several successful fundraising concerts for local institutions, including the Chestnut Street Baptist Church ‘Save Our Steeple’ project, and we look forward to assisting the library with its fundraising goals, as well.”

Penobscot Bay Ringers performs with five octaves each of Malmark handbells and Choirchimes®, which equates to 122 different instruments, each representing a pitch on the musical scale. Individual choir members are typically responsible for ringing between four and eight bells and/or Choirchimes®, depending on the complexity of the musical score.
