Board of Trustees

The Camden Public Library Board of Trustees works with the Library’s Executive Director to govern and oversee the Library and grounds, including the Amphitheatre and Harbor Park. This involves setting the strategic direction and policies, developing financial resources to support programs and activities, and maintaining fiscal oversight.

The Trustees are an integral part of the Library’s continued success in serving our community and achieving the mission of the Library: We bring people together to read, connect, and discover. The Board consists of between 11 and 17 Trustees, who serve three-year terms. Officers include a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. All Trustees serve on various working committees. A trustee “job description” can be found here.

Trustee candidates are presented to the full Board after a rigorous vetting process by the Nominating Committee. This process includes:
Discovery. Identify interested candidates who have skills, talents, and experience that can benefit the Library and who ensure a diverse representation of our community.
Nomination. Each candidate is interviewed by the Nominating Committee, which then determines whether the candidate should be presented to the entire Board of Trustees for approval.
