CamdenCAN and the Camden Public Library, as part of its continuing Camden Talks Climate series, welcome Camden resident Anna Dembska for her presentation “Backyard Gardening Adventures for Biodiversity, Resiliency, Food, and Fun” on Tuesday, April 8, at 6:30 PM.
This program is hybrid and will take place in the Picker Room at the Camden Public Library as well as on Zoom. Join in person to enjoy the hands-on activities!

Camden gardener Anna Dembska will share stories, techniques, and tips from her experiments in turning her neglected, undersized yard into a thriving, evolving environment providing nourishment both physical and psychic. Topics include:
Rapid, inexpensive, low-input yard-to-garden transformation; seed saving and promiscuous pollination to develop locally thriving plants for food in a changing environment; and freely incorporating elements of permaculture, native planting, and community for maximum success and enjoyment.
The evening will also include some hands-on activities, including creating your own seedling pots from sustainable materials!

Anna Dembska is an amateur gardener, tending plants with passion in between her work as a musician and voice and tai chi teacher. After living most of her life in New York City in the winter and Downeast woods in the summer, gardening mostly in containers, she moved with her partner to Camden in 2010 with hopes of creating a food forest in their small in-town yard. Since then, she’s been learning—mostly from the plants, other wildlife, and the many generous local gardeners she’s met—how to garden for increasing biodiversity and produce with less effort and control.
This program is put on in partnership with CamdenCAN (ClimateActionNow), a citizen-led organization committed to reducing Camden’s contribution to climate change through local action, education, advocacy, and resources.
