Every July for 75 years, the Camden Garden Club has presented some of the area’s most beautiful and unique properties to residents and visitors at its Annual Garden Tour. From July 1 to July 30, the exhibit “Celebrate Gardening” will be on display in the Picker Room Gallery at the Camden Public Library in recognition of this special anniversary.
The Club invites you to the opening reception for a not-to-be-missed retrospective exhibition on July 1, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Picker Room at Camden Public Library.
“Celebrate Gardening” offers a view into the world of gardening through the lens of the Camden Garden Club. Themed panels include the history of gardening; trees as landscape features; the influence of Fredrick Law Olmsted and Beatrix Farrand; the growth of public gardens and parks; city beautification initiatives; victory gardens past and present; the rise of garden clubs, 75 years of Garden Tours; and a consideration of why people garden.
The exhibit will be open to the public throughout the month of July. The relationship between the Club and Camden Public Library is long and collaborative, as both share the common goal to respect and preserve the natural beauty of Camden.
