Recurring event see all

Thursday, July 18 @ 9:00 am 9:45 am

Guided Relaxation in the Amphitheater will take place on Thursday mornings, 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on July 11, 18, 25, and August 1 in the Amphitheatre. Optional but suggested donation of $10-20 per class, with 20% of donations benefiting the library.

Start your summer morning with guided relaxation in the beautiful amphitheater park. Choose to sit or lie down, whatever is most comfortable for you. As you follow prompts for breath sensing, body sensing, and guided imagery your body & mind invite deeper and deeper levels of relaxation. Yoga Nidra is an ancient sleep-based meditation with no movement or effort required. Hester offers the Daring to Rest Yoga Nidra method which is designed specifically to release exhaustion on all levels: physical, mental/emotional, and life purpose exhaustion. It is said that 45 minutes of Yoga Nidra is like 3 hours of restorative sleep in the body.

No registration required, just show up. Suggested donation $10-20 per class. If you plan to sit, bring a folding chair and a blanket. If you plan to lie down bring something to lie down on such as a beach towel or yoga mat. You may also wish to bring a pillow for under your head and knees, and a blanket to put over you.

Hester Kohl Brooks is on a mission to create a well-rested world, one woman at a time.  She found Yoga Nidra at a time when she was physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted and it transformed her sleep and her life.  Hester is a Daring to Rest Certified Rest Coach and Yoga Nidra facilitator and offers 1:1 coaching and deep rest events to help women identify what’s keeping them in a cycle of fatigue, start a rest practice, and make decisions that support their future rested self.
