Camden Public Library welcomes Patent & Trademark Resource Center representative John Hutchinson for a presentation all about patents on Thursday, June 20, at 6:30 p.m. This program is in-person only.
The number of people applying for patents and trademarks greatly increased during the pandemic and remains high. Obtaining a patent can be important for an inventor, and obtaining a trademark can be an important step in founding a business.
Hutchinson will explain the basic concepts behind these intellectual properties, how to get them, and how to do a search on the official US Patent & Trademark database. He will also share a fun compilation of famous historical patents.
John Hutchinson is the Business Librarian at the Fogler Library at the University of Maine, as well as the representative for the Patent & Trademark Resource Center (PTRC). Orono’s PTRC is a public service of the Fogler Library in partnership with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
